Today we interview children's author C. H. Grand. We learn a little about the author and what is a SuperWeenee.
Q: What made you want to become a writer?
A: After I finished reading 'Charlotte's Web' by E. B. white when I was 7 or 8-years-old. I was like, I want to do this too. I want to make kids cry just like Mr. White.
Q: What's your favorite book you didn't write?
A: I have soooooooo many, but definitely 'Charlotte's Web when I was a wee kid, and now, as a big kid, probably 'Pride and Prejudice'.
Q: Have you've ever had a monster under your bed or in your closet?
A: Our family had an infestation of monsters once. It took a professional monster remover company to remove them. It was that experience that inspired my book, 'Brought to You in Monstervision'.
Q: Tell us about SuperWeenee. What's the story behind the superhero dachshund?
A: Ah, yes. SuperWeenee. Well, I wanted to create a media company that provided and promoted great intellectual material as you can probably tell by our blogs on whoopee cushions testers and videos of renegade toys. But really, I just wanted to create an environment for fun and silly stuff; a place that I could publish my own quirky material and also create a little space for other like minded SuperWeenees.
Q: What exactly is a SuperWeenee?
A: A SuperWeenee is someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously, who can laugh at themselves. They're also someone who is proud to say they are a nerdy geek and are proud of it. My mom said I'm cool and she was right.
Q: The SuperWeenee logo is of a dachshund, is there a special inspiration behind that character?
A: SuperWeenee was inspired by a little mini dachshund named Penny. She was a good dog and my best friend. It's just a cute way to remember my friend.
Q: Let's get into some personal questions, C. H. What is your favorite dinosaur?
A: The T-Rex. I identify with short arm issues. I think we would have found common ground before he ate me.
Q: What's the next thing you're working on at SuperWeenee?
A: Got lots of plans. We're working on the first episode of SuperWeenee TV; I'm also working on the next four books in the Casey Peters series as well as working on the first draft for a spy series I hope to publish later this year.
